Greetings from FOMCA!

FOMCA, together with the Consumer Research and Resource Centre (CRRC), will be organising a National Conference entitled “The New Economic Model, Globalisation and the Malaysian Consumer” on Friday, June 18, 2010, at Cititel Hotel in Mid Valley City, Kuala Lumpur.

The primary objective of this Conference is to better understand how the recently-announced New Economic Model and the increasingly global economy will affect the Malaysian consumer, whether positively or negatively.

We hope to have two outcomes from the Conference:

  • Feedback for input to present FOMCA’s position to the Government on enhancing consumer protection and welfare in the context of the new model and the increasing number of new trade agreements being signed.
  • Educating consumers on how this new model, as well as the new trade agreements, will affect them and what they need to do to minimise the risks.

Attached is the brochure of the National Conference for your perusal.

Looking forward to your attendance at the Conference.

Thank you.
Yours sincerely,

Datuk Marimuthu Nadason
President, FOMCA

The Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations, FOMCA and the Southeast Asian Council for Food Security and Fair Trade (SEACON) are pleased to jointly organize a half day Public Forum on "Genetic Engineering of Rice and Other Crops" on 5th October 2009.

Rice is the life of Asia. One of the calls of the People’s Year of Rice Action 2009-2010 is protection of Asia’s rice heritage. YORA thus addresses the issue of GE rice and other crops in Asia and its impacts on small rice farmers and rice consumers.
