UK consumers may be the biggest online shoppers in Europe, but we are less inclined to return goods bought via the internet than those purchased on the high street, research reveals today.


A survey for the government found that more than 60% of shoppers were less likely to take back goods purchased online, compared with items purchased direct from shops.


Tellingly, consumers also showed their ignorance and confusion about their legal rights for both types of purchase when it comes to refunds. Many did not realise, for example, that those buying online had the extra right of a seven-day cooling-off period.

PETALING JAYA: Six cosmetic products found to contain poisonous chemicals – tretinoin and hydroquinone – are to be removed from the shelves.

The six are Temulawak whitening pearl cream papaya, Ratna whitening cream papaya, Atika beauty renewal night cream, Chatique whitening night cream, NV toner treatment No 1 and NV toner treatment No 2.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Health Ministry has issued an alert in view of the worsening dengue situation in the country.
The ministry's director-general, Tan Sri Dr Ismail Merican, said the decision was made during a closed-door meeting between him and all state and district health directors on Wednesday.

KOTA KINABALU: Many Malaysians do not get the most of their fuel because they drive their vehicles with “unnecessary loads”, said Shell Malaysia Trading Sdn Bhd managing director Azman Ismail.

He said a research by the petroleum giant showed that Malaysian drivers also tend to “over-rev” their vehicles.

There’s been a choc shock as supermarkets have beaten well-known brands in the Which? blind taste test* of Fairtrade and organic chocolate.

Fairtrade Fortnight began this week and is encouraging people to swap their normal products for the Fairtrade equivalent**. Which?’s results*** show that chocolate-lovers can head to the supermarket and wouldn’t be missing out.
